how一词“善交朋友”，用法很多，下面就请它闪亮登场，让我们一起瞧瞧它的“交友”本领。
一、用于问候
(1)初次见面时的问候语：How do you do?其答语仍用：How do you do?
(2)熟人之间的常用问候语，询问“身体状况”：How are you?（你好吗？）其答语一般用：Fine，thank you.或I'm fine，thank you.And you? /Very well，thank you./I'm OK.
二、用于询问动作执行的方式、手段等
—How do you go to school?
你是怎样上学的？
—By bike.骑自行车。
—How do you do your home-work?
你是怎样做家庭作业的？
—With my father's help.
在我的父亲的帮助下做的。
三、用于询问对某人或某物的看法
—How do you like China?
你觉得中国怎样？
—Very much.非常喜欢。
四、用于询问年龄
—How old is he?他几岁？
—He's 12.十二岁。
五、用于询问物体的数量，后接可数名词
—How many birds are there in the sky?天空中有多少只鸟？
—Only one.
仅仅一只。
六、用于询问物体的数量，后接不可数名词
—How much water is there in the glass?杯子里有多少水？
—A little.一点儿。
七、用于询问价钱
—How much is the pen?
那支钢笔多少钱？
—It's eight yuan.八元钱。
八、与about连用，用于“征求对方意见、询问消息”，“向对方提出请求或建议”，“问及某人的身体状况”等
How about this red one?（这件红色的怎么样？）
美国人习惯用How about...?来代替What about...?而What about...?相当于What do you think of...?它是现代英语口语中使用较多的一种客套语，意为“……怎么样？”“……好不好？”
九、与long连用，用于询问做某事花费某人多长时间，意为“多长”“多长时间”
—How long does it take him to get to the school by bike?
骑自行车去学校要花他多长时间？
—About twenty minutes.
大约要用20分钟。
