Library of Private Xiehe University which was founded in 1936 and Library of Fujian Provincial College of Agriculture which was founded in 1940 were predecessors of Library of Fujian Agriculture And Forestry University After 70 years of construction and development, it becomes the only library of agriculture and forestry university which features advanced technology, perfect facilities, literature resources digitalization, diversified service platform, and offers borrowing, reading, inquiry and consulting services in Fujian province.
The library consists of Yifu Library and Li Changsheng library in Fuzhou campus, as well as library in Nanping campus, and library in Anxi campus, With a total construction area of 65316.37m2, it has 19 reading rooms, 2 information retrieval practice rooms and over 4000 reading seats. Yifu library and Li Changsheng libray are respectively positioned as circulation library and collections library, library in Nanping campus and library in Anxi campus are for turnover purposes, Yifu library has “Exhibition hall for 70 anniversary of Fujian Provincial College of Agriculture, Li Changsheng library has a Taiwanese literature hall.

Its collections have a long history, obvious characteristics, and contain rich domestic and foreign resources. Now, its literature resources are mainly about agriculture, biological sciences and Taiwan literature, at the same time, they also involve engineering, science, management, economics, literature, law science and other disciplines, and are of great academic value. As of December 31, 2014, the library’s collections reached a total of 2.5655 million, including
2.2644 million Chinese books, 0.1717 million Chinese journals, 85.3 thousand foreign language books, as well as 44.1 thousand foreign newspapers and journals. In 2014, 8 new Chinese databases and 6 foreign language databases, as well as 3 Hong Kong and Macao databases were added. Up to now, the library owns 69 databases, including Science and Nature electronic journals, CNKI, Wan Fang, CQVIP, Taiwan information database, SCI, SpringerLink and other Chinese and foreign language databases, as well as 1.219 million electronic books
2. Enhance personnel quality
The library consists of office, interview cataloging department, circulation department, digital technology department, information inquiry department (including novelty retrieval station). It has a total of 67 staff, 18 (26.86%) of who have master degrees, 18 of who have senior titles, 23 (34.33%) of who have intermediate titles, and there are 47 non permanent staff. Quality of our staff improves constantly, continuous optimization of age, educational level and knowledge structure offers a strong guarantee for teaching and research in FAFU.
3. Expand resources through platform sharing
Information-sharing Platform of the University Union in Fuzhou（Fulink）allows for resources sharing among 8 universities and colleges in Fuzhou city and over 700 libraries throughout China. At the same time, 600 Dialog databases can be accessed through

The library carries out reading month, stamp exhibition, book recommendation, database training and other activities to enhance interest of readers and utilization rate of library resources. Information retrieval course (basic course) is also provided to enhance readers’ information literacy and retrieval capabilities. Subject Librarian System is implemented to maintain close contact with each college and faculty, the organization also offers database resource retrieval training according to discipline construction, and needs of students and teachers.
2, Consider characteristics of FAFU, teaching and research needs
Novelty search station of FAFU is one of national level-1 advisory bodies which were firstly recognized by the Ministry of Agriculture, In 2009, the library got certification for novelty search function, the station has offered extensive services for research project approval assessment of research results, incentive application and patent application. In 2013, the novelty search station added in-campus patent novelty check service, and built partnerships with libraries of Jimei University and Sanming College for expanding its novelty search services.

The library upgrades engine room and enhances its overall security according to relevant national standards, it also realizes unattended and real-time monitoring; and strengthens network
