作文1 The Best Way to Keep a Harmonious Relationship in the Dormitory There is no doubt that it is very important to keep a harmonious relationship with our roommates since we spend most of time in the dorms as college students. However, as to the best way to form strong ties with our roommates, different people have different opinions. Some insist on increased participation in the group activities. Still others argue for keeping no secrets between each other. In my opinion, enhancing communication is the best way to maintain a good relationship with our roommates.
My suggestion lies in the following two reasons. On the one hand, if we frequently exchange ideas we can know our roommates better in terms of their habits, merits, demerits and so on, so that we can avoid frictions and conflicts with them. For example, one of our roommates is a night owl and she may as least make no stir as bedtime if she doesn’t change her habit of staying up late after we talked with her peacefully rather than quarreled with her. On the other hand, the more communication of thought, the more intimacy between the roommates there will be. By sharing happiness and sorrow we get closer to each other.
In a word, strengthening the communications between roommates conduces to a harmonious relationship. I believe that it is the soundest approach to keep us on intimate terms. Therefore, it is high time that we frequently exchanged ideas with our roommates.

Which Comes First in Choosing a Major, Job Opportunities or Interests? When it comes to choosing a major, different people hold different views. Many parents believe it is wise to choose a major that will bring more job opportunities. While most students maintain that they should build their choice on their interests. Personally, I agree with the latter.
Firstly, it is very hard to learn knowledge of a major which you have no interest in. Suppose you choose finance or accounting which promises a better chance in further career but holds no interest for you, it’s not hard to imagine that you will meet your waterloo in the future. Secondly, many majors that seem to have better job opportunities might not turn out the way you expect when you graduate. For example, finance and accounting were thought as the majors with better job opportunities, but the unexpected economic crisis rendered them unpopular in job hunting. Finally, you will lose your motives to study if you choose a major you are not interested in.
To sum up, it is better to choose your major according to your interest. Only when the major is the one you are interested in, can you enjoy the process of learning and probably find a job you like in the future.

The boom of Overseas Traveling Industry
From the bar chart given above, we can observe that the number of people traveling abroad experienced some changes during the past several years. From 1999 to 2000, the number of Chinese people traveling abroad increased rapidly from 7.5 million to 10 million, and then to 12.1 million in 2001.
The bar chart reveals that people in mounting numbers are going to travel abroad. What exactly contribute to this phenomenon? Reasons can be listed as follows: for one thing, the authorities have issued some preferential policies to promote the
development of the overseas tourism industry, which encourages a sudden emergence of travel agencies that can provide customers with convenient overseas tourism
services. Additionally, with the improvement of financial status and purchasing power, a considerable number of Chinese people can afford the once-deemed-expensive traveling expenses. Last but not least, as there exists huge difference in cultures, customs and landscapes between China and overseas countries, quite a few people hold that overseas traveling is not only a perfect way to relax oneself, but also enrich their knowledge and expand their horizons.
By observing the past trends, we may forecast that the growth tendency will continue. However,it is also a highly variable industry which is vulnerable to seasons and climates, international political situation, fluctuations in exchange.
