After Julius Caesar’s death, his great-nephew took is office. To be the same famous as Caesar, he wanted to entitle a month with his name. He was born in September, but he chose August to entitle. Because after he took office, the Roman curia granted him Augustus as his honorific title. At that time, August was one day shorter than July. To keep being the same level as Caesar, he pulled two days out of February and added them to the end of August. Since then, February was two day shorter. The English word “August” was from this Emperor’s Latin honorific title.
