“A good name is more desirable than great riches; to be esteemed is better than silver or gold.” As this verse points out, a good reputation is desirable, but true character is more important because character is what we really are. If you have a good reputation, have you honestly earned it? Is it an accurate reflection of your true character? Or, is it based on a false impression? People should be more concerned about their character than their reputation. A good reputation is worth having, but make sure it is based on character. A good reputation which is based on lies will eventually be found out, whereas a true character, regardless of reputation, will eventually be rewarded.

In addition to being the first great comedian, Charlie Chaplin was also one of the most gifted directors in history and a great talent as a writer and composer. Chaplin has a miserable childhood and an early start in the entertainment business. Since more than half of the roles Chaplin played were in silent films, people throughout the world had no difficulty understanding his films. With sound movies, Chaplin created a nonsense language that sounded like no know nationality and was accepted and appreciated by people all over the world.

Public assistance programs, commonly called “welfare”, provide cash or in -kind benefits for particular categories of the financially needy. The US welfare system operates on both the federal and state levels. The federal welfare program is known as Social Security that provides benefits or assistance for child care, disability, food and medical assistance. The state welfare programs, on the other hand, provide assistance to both individuals and local communities with state schooling and social insurance. The result has been a widening of the already existing disparities in social services spending between states, and between cities and regions within a state.

Some people prefer to live alone whereas some others have to live alone for one reason or another. Those people believing in inspirational solitude argue that no companion is more companionable than solitude. Literary giants such as William Words worth, John Milton and Henry Thoreau enjoyed living alone on purpose. On the other hand, there are some other people who have to live alone due to various reasons: being divorced, widowed or never married.

The History and Geography of Human Genes is a new book that compares the genetic similarities between different populations of the world. In the book, researchers have attempted to determine the routes taken by early people migrating to new regions of the globe. They primarily achieved this enormous task by analyzing the blood proteins of individuals from all around the world. One principal reason for the study was to show that humans are very similar on a genetic level.

Disneyland is one of America’s prominent cultural symbols, and so to me, having Disneyland in France seems like having an American flag planted in French soil. Of course, there is already a Disneyland in Japan----it’s not just France----and I know that many French corporations are also doing business in foreign countries, but I still think that Disneyland is a threatening force for its influence is so pervasive, especially on kids, I think it should at least include some French culture in the park’s attractions and shows.

Emotional Intelligence (EI), often measured as an Emotional Intelligence Quotient (EQ), describes an ability, capacity, or skill to perceive, assess, and manage the emotions of one’s self, of others, and of groups. As a relatively new area of psychological research, the definition of EI is constantly changing. An Intelligence Quotient (IQ) is a score derived from one of several different standardized tests attempting to measure intelligence. IQ tests are used as predictors of educational achievement. People with low IQ scores are sometimes placed in special-needs education.
